Neuroscience and Horses:

The Retreat

May 2nd-5th, 2024
October 3rd-6th, 2024

The Human Horse Neuroscience retreat is a retreat where we get to immerse ourselves in the intelligence of our nervous systems and learn how our brain operates and supports us, as well as how horses act as an empowering bridge of awareness to create lasting and impactful change in our neuron pathways and our brain.

For years we have understood and have been curious about the impact that horses have on our nervous system and in the space of neuroscience.

When we come into the space with the herd we may feel those invisible threads of feeling where we feel calmer and lighter and more grounded without always knowing why.

Well, now we have the science to empower this space with the horses.

What we feel that might seem mysterious with horses is not a questionable space that cannot be explained.

We do not have to simply trust the energy we receive. We can understand that the time spent with the horses and the experience with them, provide us with lasting transformation and shifts rooted in our brain and nervous system that can help us override some of the challenges that we are holding.

Self Regulation

Empowering a new internal narrative.

Supporting a shift in our inner belief system.

Understanding the function of the three parts of the brain plus going into the teaching around the heart and gut brain, means we then understand how our physiology supports our personal growth and development and what we can do to support the growth we are seeking to create.

If you are someone who is curious about:

  • Learning more about neuroscience, the brain, and understanding how your physiology operates.

  • If you are curious about deepening the teachings of the brain with the impact of the horses and how they support each other.

  • If you are wanting to understand the language of speaking the science behind how being with horses impacts our physiology.

  • If you are looking to create shifts and impact in how you self-regulate and support the growth and development you are seeking of your internal nature.

Testimonials from our November Neuroscience Retreat:

“My time at the Human Horse Neuroscience Retreat was one of deep rest, relaxation, realization and renewal. I was able to let go and just be in this space, no worries, which allowed me to drop in deeply to the experience and be calm in my body. This openness allowed the herd to help me begin to replace self doubt and criticism into self love and compassion which is the energy that I need to move forward on my unique path of purpose.”

- Tori Hanke

"The Human Horse Neuroscience retreat at Epona Rise offered a mind, body, heart and soul experience. Hillary, Maia and the herd created a warm, accepting space welcoming all participants. Their teachings on human and horse neuroscience were effortlessly woven into the practices with the herd. It is difficult to articulate in words an experience that was more embodied than intellectual. The insights I had at the retreat have supported my personal growth as well as my work with my clients".

“ I just want to express my gratitude for the Human Horse Neuroscience Retreat. Your explanations about how horses think, behave and respond and how they can impact our nervous system and help us heal were eye-opening. The horse experiences in the pasture were amazing and reinforced what we learned. I highly recommend this retreat!”

- Doug McLean, Business Executive

“The retreat was so amazing. I just loved being there with Maia and Hillary and the horses. I learned so so much and I feel like I grew, as a person, in a really transformational way. Friends after the retreat have been commenting, wow, you've really changed, and you are doing so well! Thank you, again.”

About our herd:

Along with our human facilitators, we also journey with a herd of 29 horse teachers who live as naturally as possible.

A herd of horses living in an environment that is supportive of their well-being means we get to land in a frequency of regulation that is absent of obstacles and unease.

With our herd living on 80 acres in community, we are given an example of what a healthy nervous system and grounded energy feels like, where we do not have to worry about protecting or guarding ourselves around human baggage and difficulties with boundaries and being aware of physical energy and other non-verbal cues.

The wisdom of the herd that is carried by them living and existing in their natural state means we can benefit from the energy of this for ourselves.

We look to and empower the horses as our teachers and co-facilitators. When we learn how to honor their space, we learn how to honor and support our own.

It is a deep and potent space that we hold alongside our herd as part of our teaching space with our retreats.
